Black and White and Brown All Over

This home in Pennsylvania, designed by Darryl Carter, is a great mix of family history, country style and contemporary chic. It also mixes classic american flair with exotic travel artifacts. I love the naked wood ceiling supports in the kitchen, contrasting with the white cabinets and black counters. The theme of black, white and brown, which flashes of other colours thrown in, is repeated throughout the home. Check out more at Elle Decor.

Sculpture Slide Stair

I cant get over how cool these stairs are. They almost look like a wooden slide from a side view, but they open up to a sleek, walnut staircase at the bottom. This is from the house of designer Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, who is featured on the Bravo show 'A Work of Art" who's architect husband, Rafael Viñoly, designed the stairs.

In Store: MCMF

I just found this great furniture store, MCMF (MidCentury Modern Finds) and can't stop looking at their pieces. The focus mainly on tables, storage, seating, lighting and vintage art, with every piece being unique. Check them out here: http://midcenturymodernfinds.com

Hampton Ranch Revival

This is Victor and Athen Calderone's Beachhouse in Amagansett, New York. Originally a neglected 1960's ranch house, they redid it as a ideal summer getaway. They worked with Rawlins Calderone Design to redo the main house, the grounds and the pool. I love the ranch-house style chandelier above the dining room table, and the turquoise rocks they use as centrepieces. The 50's-esqe beach chairs on their porch are also noteworthy.

Gil Schafer Revival Farmhouse

Exuding both a subtle warmth and elegance, this gorgeous New York farmhouse is any equestrians dream. Situated beside a glistening pond and in-between slow rolling hills, this huge 12,000 square foot, 6 bedroom home also boasts a garden designed by Deborah Nevins. The perfect blend of american farm living and exotic travel details is impressed upon by accented furniture that pulls the styles together into a gracious, eclectic home full of personality.
